Wish List Item Granted: Guerlain Météorites Voyage Exceptional Pressed Powder (Photos, Swatches, and Reviews)

If you can still remember, some time last month I did a post on an extensive wish list of Guerlain Météorites products—it contained the Guerlain Météorites Perles, Météorites Voyage Exceptional Pressed Powder, and even the Météorites Brush. One Sunday a few days after that (or maybe weeks, lol I was so busy during the latter part of the term that I lost myself along the fabric of time), I finally got to go to Makati to do some shopping and pay Rustan’s Beauty Source a visit.

May I just say that the Rustan’s Beauty Source in Makati is my definition of heaven? Not only does it combine in one place all the luxury cosmetic brands scattered all over the metro—it’s also located right beside the other luxury lifestyle brands such as Tory Burch and the like! How I wish I lived near the area!

Anyway, drooling-over-life’s-pretty-little-things aside, the main reason why I was itching to go to Rustan’s Makati was because it was one of the very few Rustan’s branches that carried Guerlain cosmetics. I was a bit disappointed for quite a number of reasons, though: (1) they didn’t have the Crazy Paris collection during that time yet; (2) they didn’t have stocks of the Météorites brush; and lastly, (3) they ran out of the Météorites Voyage compact powder tester, meaning I was only able to test the Météorites Perles.

Regardless, I made a decision that day to wait out on my first loose Météorites Perles until the Crazy Paris collection was out, so I got the Météorites Voyage compact powder in Mythic instead—yay for my makeup bag cos it’s much more portable, but boo for my credit card bill because it’s around twice the price of the loose pearls. I know it’s refillable and all, and since I’m so obsessed with cosmetics it’s considered a good investment, but I swear the price is cray!

…no regrets, though. Matter-of-factly, I’m actually planning to visit Rustan’s Makati again soon to purchase the loose Météorites Perles and the brush I missed out on the last time (changed my mind—I don’t want the Crazy Pearls collection anymore), plus the Météorites primer I tried out on the same day (which should be another post entirely). 😆  #ErikaProblems #whydoineverlearn

I got it for an outrageous Php 7,800.00 (0.26 oz) at the Rustan’s Beauty Source in Makati (that’s around USD 181.40, as opposed to the US suggested retail price of USD 170.00 if the USD-PHP conversion rate is pegged at $1.00 = Php43.00), but if that’s way out of budget or just plain impractical for you (it is though LOL) yet you still really really want to purchase it, you may get cheaper alternative empty palettes to store it in since Guerlain sells refill palettes of Mythic (a photo of it may be found on the wish list post I made before). According to Temptalia, the palette measures 55mm, and I confirmed it with the MUA at Guerlain to be true. Unfortunately, I forgot the exact price of the Mythic refill pan, but it’s around Php 3,000.00-3,500.00 if I remember correctly (it’s listed as USD 55.00 in the US).

Isn’t the packaging exquisite? How the hell could I not give that a 5.0? This is my very first luxury compact powder so I have nothing else to compare it to, but I believe this is already the crème dela crème (or close) of luxury compact powders and I have very good reason to believe so: it seems to be made completely out of metal and has a magnetic lock, so it’s quite heavy and it feels very sturdy—an exact opposite of the light, plastic compact powders from MAC I had been used to, and it felt like anything but cheap. The design on the compact, an embossed cascading peach-pink blossom, looks absolutely lovely as well, along with the small but striking detailing inside the compact, a cursive script of the Guerlain brand name. What I really liked was how they included a small black velvet pouch tailored to store the compact, though, for I have a huge pet peeve against scratching shiny objects. 😆

The pigmentation of this particular product is similar to most translucent finishing powders, except this one has corrective properties like the loose Météorites Perles do, with less amount of shimmer and more mattifying properties. To be honest, when I first saw swatches and read descriptions of this product, I was afraid I would be à la Edward Cullen under the sun while wearing it, but thankfully that didn’t happen! Although it came out as a very sheer finish when applied on the face, it gave out this indescribable fabulous appearance of healthy, glowing skin.

It had a no-brainer application—as expected, the powder was finely milled but was excellently compacted that there was hardly any product wastage regardless of whether you use a light, moderate, or heavy hand when applying makeup. It wasn’t similar to low-end glittery makeup in any way, for the micro-shimmer didn’t spread all over the place for every swipe of the brush.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about its wear, as well, because its claims to be a very lightweight and translucent finishing powder are all true. So if you’re worried about using this on top of your existing makeup routine because it might weigh down your face with an additional layer of powder, cast your worries away… it doesn’t even feel like anything at all, trust me! It emits this unique violet scent, too, which either grows on you or makes you turn your nose away immediately. It fades away after a short while, though, so it isn’t overpowering in any way, and your possible dislike of the fragrance won’t keep you from using the product.

Lastly, its longevity was highly satisfactory, too—for something so light and sheer, it lasts on my face for 4-6 hours, and although it doesn’t advertise to prolong makeup wear, it does so anyway, and I love it for that. I complain about my extremely oily skin all the time, but ever since I started using the Météorites Voyage Powder, I believe my skin’s oiliness has improved in a sense that its oiliness comes off as a “healthy, dewy glow” instead of just plain, ugly, slick oil fit for frying an egg on a pan. 😆
