The MAC Alluring Aquatic collection is the summer 2014 MAC product line released in the Philippines last June. It comes with lipsticks, lipglasses, lip pencils, Extra Dimension Eye Shadows, Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners, bronzing powders, Extra Dimension Bronzers, Extra Dimension Blushes, nail lacquer, makeup brushes, and a makeup bag. Pretty extensive collection, if you ask me, not-to-mention aesthetically pretty too because of the limited edition teal packaging!
I got just a lipstick and an eyeliner, however, because the other products were either similar to a bunch of makeup I already have or just plain uninteresting to me. Scroll down to read my reviews!
MAC Mystical is described as a “mid-tone creamy rose” with a cremesheen finish, and it comes off to me as a slightly sheer MLBB shade leaning more on the warmer side than the usual (my regular MLBB shades are MAC Mehr or MAC Twig)—perfect for sunny summer days. It costs Php1,100.00 at your local MAC counter.
MAC MYSTICAL RATING SUMMARY Packaging: 5.0/5.0 Pigmentation: 4.5/5.0 Application: 5.0/5.0 Wear: 4.5/5.0 Longevity: 3.5/5.0 TOTAL: 4.5/5.0
The packaging is the lovely limited edition shiny teal lipstick tube with faux water droplets. The pigmentation is good; it has a good color payoff but I had to swipe twice to make sure it appeared opaque on my lips. The application was easy and very forgiving in a sense that you don’t have to be too precise out of fear that you’d color out of your lips, since it could easily be erased with a slight fingertip rub. It also didn’t tug on the skin. It was also very lightweight in terms of wear, probably because of its cremesheen formula. It wasn’t drying in any way, and it didn’t settle into my lip lines. Its longevity was decent, but nothing too noteworthy. It lasted around 4-5 hours on my lips, which I find to be an average for cremesheen formulas.

MAC Black Swan is described to be a “black with pearl,” or basically a shimmery black due to its slight silvery glitter. It’s smudge-proof and pearlescent like all Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners, and it’s not any different from its permanent range counterpart except for its teal packaging (which doesn’t have the faux water droplets, BTW, so if you’re looking to save cash you’re better off with the slightly cheaper non-limited edition version). It costs Php1,100.00 at any MAC branch nationwide.
MAC BLACK SWAN RATING SUMMARY Packaging: 4.0/5.0 Pigmentation: 5.0/5.0 Application: 4.5/5.0 Wear: 5.0/5.0 Longevity: 5.0/5.0 TOTAL: 4.7/5.0
As mentioned previously, MAC Black Swan has the same packaging as the standard Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners, except its color is the limited edition teal instead of black. The lack of the faux water droplets disappointed me, because they could have easily incorporated that design on the eyeliner pencil cover and it would’ve made the slight price increase more reasonable. I’m also not fond of products requiring sharpening due to product wastage.
Thankfully, I was not disappointed at all with the rest of the rating factors. The pigmentation was more than satisfactory; it took one swipe with a light hand to achieve good coverage, and a slightly heavier hand will render even darker pigment so it’s safe to say that it’s buildable. The application was easy, but I am a bit partial about it because I was oddly tearing up during the process (that doesn’t happen with other eyeliners, so it could be because of the glitter). It requires a very steady hand, though, because if you make a mistake during application and you don’t have a makeup remover on hand, you can’t remove it no matter how hard you rub your skin with your fingers because of how smudge-proof it is (unless you want to end up with really red and irritated skin, I guess)… on the up side, that gives a lot of brownie points for its wear factor. It stayed smudge-proof even after long hours in hot sticky weather, too! Impressive longevity.

That ends my MAC Alluring Aquatic collection review! It’s two months late (oops), but I heard they still have stocks of the other items in the product line up to this day. They have more of the MAC Moody Blooms collection now, however! I got just one (really pretty) MAC Fluidline eyeliner from that collection and my review of it will be up sometime next week, along with posts on some of my other makeup hauls from MAC, Urban Decay, and Anastasia.
I hope you found this post useful! Feel free to leave questions and comments below. 🙂
