Eye Makeup Faux Pas: What NOT To Do When Creating Smoky Eyes!

Here’s the “next post” I was talking about on my previous blog updates post—this was intended to be just a personal, sentimental type of post filled with photos from our Media Noche (it’s a Filipino tradition where a midnight feast with relatives is held to welcome the New Year), but when I saw the close-up photos of my eye makeup I really couldn’t stop laughing and face-palming… so I thought of doing a post on what you should NOT do when creating smoky eyes to commemorate my mistake! 😆

It’s a good thing I wore that makeup look to just our Media Noche because if I went out on an ordinary night with those eyes, I’d lose all respect for my “supposed” makeup skills! Check out my embarrassing eye makeup faux pas below (I mean, I know this was the very first time I tried to do smoky eyes and it was perfectly okay to commit a mistake and all, but still)…

Wish List Items Granted: MAC Stroke of Midnight Lip Bag in Violet and Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Three days ago, my aunt and cousin arrived from New York to celebrate my other aunt’s first death anniversary and New Year’s Eve with the rest of the family. I was really glad that they were coming home and all, of course, but the makeup junkie in me was most excited to get the MAC Stroke of Midnight Lip Bag in violet, which was a gift from my aunt, and the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, which I got shipped over to their place.

…I have yet to try them out, though, because I still haven’t taken photos of the items to post here on my blog! Here’s a photo I took from the day I got them, anyway. 😆

FOTD Flashback: MAC Angel and Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Amused (21/09/2013)

Ever felt so bored that you did a full makeup look for a trip to the grocery store? Yep, I have, and this was one of those days! I have to admit, though… I might have had an ulterior motive for my slightly-more-than-the-usual makeup look, because don’t you just hate it when you go makeup shopping wearing your bare (or extremely minimally made up) face and some of the salesladies who aren’t familiar with you act as if you’re completely clueless about cosmetics? Or worse, when they don’t pay you any attention at all because they feel as if you’re not the type to make a purchase at a makeup boutique anyway? Not that I’m saying all salesladies are as such (I’ve made friends with plenty of salesladies), but it was a discussion topic on Temptalia before and I would really prefer to minimize the chances of getting into a similar encounter because that won’t do my blood pressure any good. 😆

…now, why the sudden tirade about makeup shopping and snooty salesladies if I were just going to the grocery store? Simply because this was the day after my saleslady-friend from MAC Cosmetics sent me an SMS to notify me about the arrival of my much-awaited MAC Retro Matte Fall 2013 collection, and, well, you do the maths lol. Unfortunately, since I’m not a morning person, I was able to go to to MAC in the afternoon despite planning to go in the morning. That left me lacking the “Runway Hit” lipstick and the “Fashion Boost” Pro Longwear lip pencil from my collection, which ultimately sucked (but I was able to get hold of them a few days after, thanks to my other saleslady friends from the other branches of MAC Cosmetics, ha ha!). I’ll make a post on that collection soon BTW, I promise!

FOTD Flashback: MAC Kinda Sexy and Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed (15/09/2013)

The typical girly girl side of my personality has always been a firm believer in the statement that “a girl can never have too many clothes and shoes,” and since I’ve always thought makeup and fashion go hand in hand, I believe that a girl can never have too many makeup on her vanity desk, as well. The only thing that should be regulated about a lady’s fashion statement is the appropriateness of what they are wearing—you can’t expect not to get judging stares if you wear your bum day outfit and very minimal makeup to a club that requires a dress-to-impress dress code.

The day these photos were taken was one of the very infrequent days I tried to pull off the no-makeup makeup look, because if I remember correctly, I went to church for the first time in a long time on that Sunday. Although I respect everyone’s beliefs regarding how they do their makeup, I personally think my usual bold lip color and blush would not blend well with Church Sundays so I went with the most basic neutral colors. 😆

FOTD Flashback: MAC Raspberry Swirl and NARS Sin (11/09/2013)

Photos taken on the first day back in school for the second trimester of this academic year! This was a Wednesday and my boyfriend picked me up for school because my car was on number coding that day, so I did my makeup in the car instead (hence my makeup-less OOTD) as I almost always do when he’s the one driving to school. I was running late—again, as I almost always do—and I simply had no time to ponder about what lipstick and blush shade looked best with my outfit, so I grabbed the safest shade possible for my skin tone: pink lipstick matched with plum-toned blush!

FOTD Flashback: MAC Sushi Kiss and NARS Gina (07/09/2013)

Funny story I don’t think I’m ever going to forget: these photos were taken during the last days of our “term break” (with quotation marks because term breaks are usually barely a week long when you study in DLSU-Manila) and I was out and about extremely early because I couldn’t sleep due to my insane PMS cravings. I called up my boyfriend at around 5:30AM (I KNOW)—crying (NO, SERIOUSLY)—because I was hungry and I wanted pancakes, and he slept without saying good night and that made me sad. LOL. It’s a good thing he puts up with me during that time of the month. Just a little disclaimer: I’m not usually that way, okay! 😆

Anyway, since that morning was really sunny and I started feeling happy-cheery the moment my boyfriend said yes to picking me up at 7AM to get breakfast at Pancake House (we ended up eating at Pancake House for breakfast, Johnny Rockets for lunch, and Yellow Cab for dinner that day OMG no wonder I gained weight), weird ol’ me kind of felt like putting on makeup that was suited to how I was feeling and how the day was. I even made sure my lips matched the lips on my top! 😛

FOTD Flashback: MAC RiRi Boy and NARS Mata Hari (26/08/2013)

Just another ordinary day in school! I think I just got my shipment of RiRi Boy a few days before these photos were taken so I was really excited (and nervous) to try it out. What’s funny is how much I fell in love with the RiRi Boy shade when I initially thought it was that one shade in the MAC RiRi Hearts Summer 2013 collection that I wouldn’t like!

In fact, if I remember correctly, I wore purple tones on my face the whole week since my MAC RiRi Boy order also included MAC Strong Woman and the 3 mattenes from the MAC Taste Temptation collection. I was also just honestly ecstatic that I was actually able to pull off purple hues, because when I tried a purple lipstick for the first time (MAC Heroine) I thought it looked horrible on me. 😆

Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon Review (+ My New Hairdo!)

As mentioned in my previous post, I clearly haven’t organized the photos of the makeup + swatches yet, so my first “serious” post would be on the new hairdo I got because it’s been days yet I still can’t get over how I finally got the hair color that I wanted, probably due to the fact that it finally appeared the way I wanted it to! Apparently the only trick was to get my hair “cleansed” prior to colouring—by cleansing, I mean bleaching. Aaahh I’m so happy!

Post-bleached hair! The cleansing solution wasn’t left in for too long because it would turn my hair into platinum blonde.
