Guerlain Météorites Perles Light-Diffusing Primer: Pictures, Swatches, and Reviews

First and foremost, I have absolutely no excuses for abandoning my blog for more than a month. I just wasn’t feeling it, I guess? I wasn’t in the mood to take photos of my makeup; I wasn’t in the mood to write about makeup… heck, for a period of time I wasn’t even in the mood to put on makeup. You could say I was going through some stuff (disclaimer: I still am, but I just don’t want to neglect my blog any longer). Damn, I am horrible at this. 😆

On the plus side, though, I traveled a bit during my blog absence and it was an amazing experience. I’ll make sure to write about that, because I’d be dumb not to!

Anyway, here’s a makeup review I had been putting off for so long already—the Guerlain Météorites Perles Light-Diffusing Primer, a.k.a. the BEST makeup primer I have ever used!

Axe Gold Launch Party at Republiq Club (14/05/2014)

Axe Gold Launch Party at Republiq

Last week Wednesday, I went to Republiq Club at Resorts World Manila for the Axe Gold launch party. Everyone had a can of Axe Gold on their tables so we all got our chance to get a whiff of the lovely fragrance, and boy did it smell good! It sure lived up to its tagline, you know? It had that touch of sophistication—something I’m sure the ladies would adore. 😉

Hair and Makeup Stint for Tricia Castillo (31/03/2014)

I started a beauty blog because of my love of hoarding makeup and cosmetics in addition to experimenting with them on my own face—I had no formal background on makeup education (I still don’t), and I felt like even though I may have the skills to do makeup, I had yet to earn the right to do makeup on other people and charge them for it (I still do).

Fortunately, someone thought otherwise and I was given the opportunity to do hair and makeup for a graduation ball occasion! I kind of failed miserably with the eyeliner (at first it was okay, but the client blinked and we didn’t have the time to erase the eyeliner and redo it, so she requested that I just thicken the eyeliner overall), but I think the rest of the makeup seemed fine (the lips could have been better though, had I used an exfoliant on it prior to applying lip color).

Check out the photos below! 🙂

Tricia Castillo: before and after. I really wish we had the time to redo her eyeliner! I feel like the whole look could have been at least ten times prettier if the eyeliner was on point…

Guerlain and MAC Haul

Because I have yet to find time to write a full-fledged blog post on my MAC Technique Makeup workshop experience and my hair and makeup stint (thesis revisions at 10 in the morning OMG), here’s a pretty photo I took of my Guerlain Crazy Paris Collection haul + MAC mini haul from a few weeks back!

Taken with the iPhone 5 Back Camera with minor post-processing on VSCOcam

From L-R: Guerlain Crazy Paris Eye Palette, Guerlain Parure Gold in #02 Beige Clair, Guerlain Crazy 68 Terracotta Bronzer, Guerlain Crazy Champs Élysées Météorites Pearls, MAC Satin Lipstick in Twig, MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Superb, and MAC Blot Powder in Medium.

The only items I’ve tried so far (excluding MAC Twig and MAC Blot Powder since I’ve had them before) are the foundation and the Météorites, because they’re the only products that would barely show wear on pictures and I haven’t shot the makeup individually (lol #erikaproblems). I will by the end of next week, though! Ah, I really can’t wait for school to be over!

EOTD: Urban Decay Naked Basics and Urban Decay Naked 2 (28/01/2014)

I had been planning to post about this since the day I did it (because damn, I really needed to redeem myself after that “panda eye look” fiasco last New Year’s Eve), but as usual I never really found the time to edit photos and make a post… I just so happen to have stayed at home today because I’m sick. I swear, if my schedule last term with the first phase of my undergraduate thesis was hectic, my schedule this term with both my on-the-job training/internship and the second phase of my undergraduate thesis is RIDICULOUS (I do enjoy my internship, though—I feel bad that I missed it today). I hardly ever even have the time to hang out with friends anymore! 😦

Anyway, back to my EOTD… one fine Tuesday, my 8-10AM class was an announced free cut and I had so much time on my hands before going to school since my next class wouldn’t be until 1PM. Best task to spend all that time on? Painting on my face, no doubt! 😆

It’s a little too much for school I guess, but it’s still suitable for a day look, don’t you think?

Guerlain Météorites Perles Illuminating Powder in 02 Teint Beige: Pictures, Swatches, and Reviews

Okay, it’s been 1 whole month into my (hopefully) last undergraduate term and I was able to publish just 1 post. So much for my 3-4 posts a week New Year’s Resolution! I really can’t wait to graduate already so I could finally focus on my hobbies for a change! 😦

Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but my posts have been mostly about Guerlain recently. I guess it’s because I finally got to drink the “Météorites Kool-Aid” and now I’m obsessed with the Météorites line? 😆 Which reminds me, I’m really sad I wasn’t able to make it to the Guerlain boutique at Rustan’s The Beauty Source in Glorietta before January ended—their MUA contacted me last week to notify me that selected items were on sale for 20% off until January 31, but I was too busy to pay a visit. Bummer. 😦 It cheers me up that there are still stocks of the Holiday 2013 collection, though! I’ll make sure to get the Champs Elysees Météorites Bronzer this February!

Before I ramble on about my future plans (that my academic affairs keep on hindering), let me tell you about how and why I finally got to understand the craze over the Guerlain Météorites through this review!

Guerlain Haul: Photos and (Late) Announcements!

I had been planning to post about this for quite a while now (by quite a while, I mean almost a month) but I never really got to it because school commenced and lots of real-life drama (that I would much rather not talk about, thank you) occurred. Still, just in case you’ve been planning to get something from Guerlain Cosmetics and you’re a bit tight on funds, this post might be of use to you!

First, let me share a photo of my much-awaited Guerlain haul that I finally got last December 27 (I told you it was almost a month ago already). I’m currently working on my review posts about these and I’ll have them up before the weekend ends!

I got just the Guerlain Météorites Perles in 02 Teint Beige and the Guerlain Météorites Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer! The rest were free samples c/o the lovely MUA at Guerlain Rustan’s The Beauty Source Makati.

Yep, you read that right—free Guerlain mascara (which I think is a full size if not a deluxe size sample) and powder foundation (which most definitely is a sample size)! I love that I end up friends with almost all the cosmetic boutiques I frequent. Yay for extra freebies, reservation privileges, and firsthand announcements of new products and exclusive sales!

Wish List Item Granted: Guerlain Météorites Voyage Exceptional Pressed Powder (Photos, Swatches, and Reviews)

If you can still remember, some time last month I did a post on an extensive wish list of Guerlain Météorites products—it contained the Guerlain Météorites Perles, Météorites Voyage Exceptional Pressed Powder, and even the Météorites Brush. One Sunday a few days after that (or maybe weeks, lol I was so busy during the latter part of the term that I lost myself along the fabric of time), I finally got to go to Makati to do some shopping and pay Rustan’s Beauty Source a visit.

May I just say that the Rustan’s Beauty Source in Makati is my definition of heaven? Not only does it combine in one place all the luxury cosmetic brands scattered all over the metro—it’s also located right beside the other luxury lifestyle brands such as Tory Burch and the like! How I wish I lived near the area!

My haul from that day! Thanks, mom!

Anyway, drooling-over-life’s-pretty-little-things aside, the main reason why I was itching to go to Rustan’s Makati was because it was one of the very few Rustan’s branches that carried Guerlain cosmetics. I was a bit disappointed for quite a number of reasons, though: (1) they didn’t have the Crazy Paris collection during that time yet; (2) they didn’t have stocks of the Météorites brush; and lastly, (3) they ran out of the Météorites Voyage compact powder tester, meaning I was only able to test the Météorites Perles.

Regardless, I made a decision that day to wait out on my first loose Météorites Perles until the Crazy Paris collection was out, so I got the Météorites Voyage compact powder in Mythic instead—yay for my makeup bag cos it’s much more portable, but boo for my credit card bill because it’s around twice the price of the loose pearls. I know it’s refillable and all, and since I’m so obsessed with cosmetics it’s considered a good investment, but I swear the price is cray!

…no regrets, though. Matter-of-factly, I’m actually planning to visit Rustan’s Makati again soon to purchase the loose Météorites Perles and the brush I missed out on the last time (changed my mind—I don’t want the Crazy Pearls collection anymore), plus the Météorites primer I tried out on the same day (which should be another post entirely). 😆  #ErikaProblems #whydoineverlearn

Wish List Items: Guerlain Météorites Perles and Guerlain Météorites Voyage Powder

As many of you know, I’m an avid reader of Temptalia—in fact, I actually got the idea to blog about makeup from her. If you frequent her site as well, you’d notice how often she raves about Guerlain’s products and collections. I used to shrug this off because I was only concerned with MAC, NARS, Tarte, Benefit, and Urban Decay’s products, but I’ve been trying out new brands lately (such as Laura Mercier) and all the posts on Guerlain products finally got to me… most especially the ones about the ubiquitous Guerlain Météorites.

The Guerlain Météorites sparked my curiosity, partly because the packaging was beautiful and I remember playing around with a similar Météorites-like blush my mom had when I was younger (I’m not sure if that was Bare Escentuals or Guerlain itself), but mostly because Christine of Temptalia calls it “Photoshop in her pocket.” Now, who doesn’t want that!? 😆
